Short Summary of what happened
The first episode reveals Osman making a brand new sword for Aybars who’s Bamsi’s son. Bamsi was his father’s greatest friend and Aybars is like a brother to Osman. Soon Aybars shall be married and the sword will be a marriage present for him. Osman swears to Bamsi that his father’s flag and the brand new sword will be taken all around the world to form a new nation for his people.
Dundar Bey (who is Ertugrul’s brother) leads the tribe at the moment. The tribe has lived in peace for 25 years.
Aybars leaves the village with Osman to ship carpets, furs, and weapons to Tekfur who’s the ruling Lord of the land and lives in Kuluchaiser Fortress. The gifts are to cement a new settlement as beforehand organized by Ertugrul and are to be signed by Dundar Bey. Aybars leaves his lovely Burcin who’s his fiancee to attend till his return for their wedding ceremony.
Osman is against giving gifts and signing Agreements and would much desire to attack the Fortress than give the Lord items of handmade swords simply the maintain the peace.
Osman, Dundar Bey, Gunduz and the Kais reach Kuluchaiser Fortress and are greeted by Tekfur, his spouse Sofia and the protector of the Fortress, Commander Kalanoz. Osman feels uncomfortable and notices suspicious armed men on the ramparts.
A Kill Attempt
It isn’t long before an attempt is made on their lives however the assassins escape.
Aliser Bey who’s Lord of the neighbouring land of Itinge is against a new settlement being signed by the Kais. He isn’t completely satisfied that the murderer tries to cease the Settlement being signed had failed.
The Kais and Lord Tekfur gather together within the Royal chambers. Dundar Bey calls for Tekfur to find those accountable for making an attempt to kill him. Tekfur tells him that as recompense he’ll sign any Agreement that the Kais present to him. That is obviously not what Commander Kalanoz desires. His attempt to dissuade Tekfur is observed by Osman.
Osman is given permission to go over the border searching for groups of raiding bandits. Commander Kalanoz has not been capable of catching the bandits. He isn’t the only one not pleased, Dundar Bey feels jealousy when Tekfur gives the mission of catching the bandits to Osman. He sees this action as ignoring his leadership and going over his head.
Sofia, the spouse of Tekfur, is kind of devious and evil. She slits the throats of the two assassins that failed to kill Osman and Dundar Bey. She once more sends her assassins to complete the job and kill Osman.
An Ambush on Osman Bey
In the meantime, Osman and Aybars depart the fortress on their horses not realizing the danger. Osman tells Aybars that sooner or later there shall be a conflict on the land they’re living on and a new State will rise out of his dreams.
Just a little further on the two Kais are ambushed by a group of bandits with the intent solely on killing Osman. The bandits are heavily armed and outnumber the two significantly. Aybars is critically wounded in the combat with Osman being left for dead and lying in a pool of muddy water.
His magnificent horse tries to return to his rescue.
Osman is discovered by two women who assist him to regain consciousness. One lady, particularly, cleans the mud from his face and places him in a position where he can reach his horse as he regains consciousness. Osman can see her beautiful face as she tends him after which she is gone.
Osman regains strength and goes looking for Aybars. He finds his brother barely alive and carries him to his horse and makes his way home.
Drums start pounding at the gates of the Kayi village alerting all inside that men are approaching. Once they see that it’s Osman and he’s carrying Aybars who’s severely injured, they start to grieve. Aybar dies in the arms of his father and together with his final breath seeks his blessing. Burcin is broken-hearted and blames Osman for her sweetheart’s death. Osman asks Bamsi to forgive him for not protecting his son.
Bamsi loves Osman and tells him to not shed a tear. There shall be time for revenge. Bamsi lifts his lifeless son in his arms and carries him to his tent. He addresses the tribe and tells them that his son is now blessed by the Prophet Mohammad and right now is a holy day because he has become a father of a martyr.
The two women who stopped to assist Osman arrived at Kuluchaiser Fortress. They appear to be on a mission. They enter the Chapel and meet a Monk who’s waiting for them. They’ve come to the fortress with a secret password and they’re in search of holy relics, where a hidden message should lead them to.
In the meantime inside the Kayi tribe, Dundar Bey rips into Osman and blames him for killing Aybars. Osman is not going to settle for the condemnation or shame placed on him by Dundar Bey. He confronts Dundar Bey and tells him that he’ll revenge his brother’s murder proudly as his father before he would. Dundar Bey’s accusations enrage Osman to the point that he might kill his Uncle. Feeling his revolt Dundar Bey threatens him with death if he disobeys him.
Commander Kalanoz and Sofia love one another and maintain their affair a secret from Tekfur. Sofia is a little bit of a Sorceress and delves into darkness. She is also responsible for ambushing Osman and Aybars.
The attractive woman that helped Osman in the muddy water sits on the side of her mattress in Kuluchaiser Fortress dreaming of the strong good-looking warrior she saved and keeps visualizing his face. She wonders who he’s and why she can not get him out of her thoughts.
Aybars is laid to rest with a lot of mourning and straight after the funeral, Bamsi Bey offers Osman his son’s sword which Osman made for him as a marriage present. He tells him to make use of this sword as a weapon of revenge. Osman is only too pleased to take it. He guarantees Bamsi to take his revenge. Bamsi then gives Osman and his Alps his blessing for their bravery and sends them on their way to search for the murderers.
Osman is starting to really feel power and strength which is drawing him to a far greater calling. He carefully makes plans for his revenge. His first task is to enter Kuluchaiser Fortress in secret and converse with Tekfur. To achieve access to the Fortress is not going to be simple. In the meantime, Sofia rides deep into the mountains where a Sorcerer examines the bodies of animals and humans and carries out experiments. The Sorcerer is addressed by Sofia as Master Yannis and it’s obvious that she is certainly one of his apprentices and she has learned her trade from him. All Master Yannis desires to hear from Sofia is just news of Ertugrul’s son, Osman.
She tells him that Osman is smarter than his father and has already begun to give them trouble. The Sorcerer orders the demise of Tekfur that night and he’ll have the soul of Kalanoz. He also tells her that Osman should be killed just like Aybars.
Sofia returns to the Fortress and aligns her planetary dome together with the moon and the stars. She prepares some kind of for a ceremony and prepares the room.
Osman has been successful in getting into the Fortress he dresses like a fortress guard and makes his way to speak with Tekfur in his throne room. He makes Tekfur aware that the same bandits that attempted to kill him after they got here to sign the settlement had also been sent to kill him resulting in the death of Aybars. Osman believes the betrayal must have come from inside the Fortress walls. He warns him to not trust anybody and he should start by suspecting his own spouse and Commander Kalanoz.
Tekfur finds this news disturbing however when he sees his spouse in the arms of Commander Kalanoz he begins to imagine the truth in Osman’s words. Kalanoz strangles Tekfur to death whereas his spouse looks on. They took his body and threw it out of a window. The body lands on the feet of Osman walking beneath on the street.
Osman can see the window from the place the body fell. He climbs the steps to confront the assassin. He enters the room which belongs to Sofia and disturbs two women who’re searching the room looking for hidden compartments within the walls and furniture.
He instantly recognizes the face of the woman who saved his life.
He tells the woman that he thought she was an angel when she saved his life however now he feels she is a murderer. The women attempt with little success to fight Osman off. However his strength is far greater than theirs and he captures his angelic enemy and places a knife at her throat.
He asks her, “Now tell me who’s behind this angelic face?”
Hidden Message Kurulus Osman
In the last part of Kurulus Osman Season 1 Episode 1. Were Dundar Bey spoke with Gunduz Bey about Ertugrul bey regarding Osman bey, and said; “Only if my brother could come from Konya”, (2:00:00 – 2:01:00) because he couldn’t handle this nephew’s ambitions. This could give us an indication that we may see Ertugrul in the coming episodes. What do you think?
